Advanced Chiropractic Techniques
Patients receiving advanced chiropractic care will typically present with >5/10 pain, possible antalgic lean or difficulty turning head, problems with mobility, spasms, and/or radiation of symptoms into the arms or legs. They may also have a history of similar problems or previous diagnosis of sciatica or degenerative disc/joint disease. These patients are typically seen for 20-30 minutes and will receive manual traction, manual stretching, and chiropractic adjustments. (see below)
Long-Axis Decompressive TRaction (Flexion-Distraction therapy)
This techniques is used to decompress or create a negative pressure to hydrate the degenerative area of concern. This is a must have therapy for frequent to intermittent sciatica and low back pain.
Manual Stretching (Neck and/or Low Back)
These stretches are done to increase mobility, decrease pain and tightness, and facilitate a longer-lasting adjustment. “If you are wrapped in tightness around your problem area and we get it moving, it won’t last unless we get those muscles loosened up real quick,” states Dorey
Chiropractic Full-Spinal and/or Extra-Spinal manipulations
